Easter sunrise services at Vermont resorts on Sunday — then take some runs!

The Skimeister and I went to a <link http: www.skimaven.com post early-easter-morning-on-the-ski-mountain _top external-link-new-window>sunrise service on Easter 2009. We got up very, very early and headed to the mountain and I recall it was strange to ride the lift in such faint morning light.

We enjoyed being on top of the mountain as the sun came up and the pastor made some nice remarks and played his guitar. Here's a shot of the pastor skiing down with his guitar slung over his shoulder after the service. Some people skied down while others snowshoed down the empty trails.Vermont Easter sunrise service skiing down

Each of the five open ski resorts in Vermont will hold sunrise services this Sunday.

  • Killington
  • Jay Peak
  • Smugglers' Notch
  • Stowe
  • Sugarbush

Visit their websites (direct links on our <link internal-link internal link in current>Vermont Ski Resort page) for details of when they will start and stop the lifts for the service. Set a couple of alarms and don't be late!

Sunday looks to be a nice day to be on the hill. Enjoy!

Enjoying some fluffy new snow in northern Vermont

So grateful for new snow! At higher elevations in northern Vermont, we've seen quite a bit of fluffy new snow in the last couple of days. Above 1600 feet or so there's often a decent, frozen base, as…
