Fluffy, powdery cross-country skiing today

What a day! My friend and I went for a lovely nordic loop at the Stowe Mountain Resort Cross-Country Center today. They received six inches of snow two nights ago, and this morning it was snowing when we arrived (and continued all through our ski) and there were a couple more inches of the freshest, lightest powder. The snowflake formations were amazing!
We enjoyed a ski on the Burt Trail, which at first follows the Ranch Brook. After a quick hot chocolate break at the resorts micro-hut, we continued on the outer-most loop of the trail network and got on Bear Run. Bear Run had lots of ups and downs — providing plenty of exciting descents on my skinniest of skinny skis!
Along the way, we disturbed a turkey that was sleeping in a tree. He was on a lower branch and at first I wasn’t positive what it was until he awoke and showed his head. Funny birds!
The nordic center’s groomed trails are located between 1,100 feet and 1,700 feet. They've been catching some snow here. We saw some downhill skiers and one snowboarder coming down from the Bruce trail, off the top of Mt. Mansfield. The snow report said there was now good snowdepth in the backcountry trails in the area.
It was a great, snowy ski made even better because we got two-for-one tickets with my Catamount Trail Association member coupon booklet!
Did you find powder this weekend?

Nice Bolton Trapps run Sunday noon. A bit crusted on top, but some nice powder pockets too- overall we still need more depth. Trees did look fantastic, all weighed down and droopy- Dr. Zuess like.
