Groomers and snowmakers are busy again

After another thaw that closed out January — this time hitting us on Wednesday and into Thursday — we're now heading back into winter weather. A couple of ski areas closed on Thursday to help retain the snow they had on their trails. As temperatures dropped on Thursday, the ski resorts were turning their snowmaking guns back on and planning their grooming attack on the trails.

Rain turned to snow, as well. A few resorts are reporting 2 - 3 inches of new snow fell last night.

As the ski areas rebuild after the thaw, be sure to go to our <link internal-link internal link in current>Vermont ski conditions list to check out the status of your favorite mountains. As for cross-country skiing, also check out our <link internal-link internal link in current>Nordic listing before making plans. Many of the Nordic areas are hurting after this spring-like episode because they tend to be at lower elevations where things were balmy.

Fortunately, forecasts call for snow showers this weekend and next week!

Did you see my powder day post from Tuesday? I'd like to have more of those please, Mother Nature!
