New snow over the weekend in Vermont

Monday, April 6, 2009 at 08:47 AM

Mother Nature is not ready to let go of winter yet here in Vermont. On Saturday night and Sunday morning, northern and central Vermont ski resorts reported about 7 inches of new snow. For some resorts, such as Bolton Valley, this snow came in time for their final day of operation for this ski season.Snow during Killington's Bear Mtn. Challenge

Stowe, Jay Peak and Sugarbush ski resorts all reported about 7 inches in the last 48 hours. This morning Sugarbush encouraged skiers to hit the trails early today because "immature snow" (aka rain) will roll in this afternoon. Flurries are in the forecast for the middle of this week at higher elevations.

Killington also reported 7 inches in last 48 hours while Stratton picked up 2 inches and Okemo reported a dusting.

Here's a shot from Sunday's Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge at Killington. Note the snowflakes!
