Each year we compile a list of some of the best skiing deals, discount days, resident discounts and frequent skier deals in Vermont. Here's the list of deals for the 2017-2018 ski season.

We may mention a few exceptional season passes but we really do not cover them here. You need to look at how many days you want to ski to calculate if a season pass is worthwhile. And if you are under age 35, some Vermont ski resorts are offering you cheap season passes, so look for them!

If you live away from the mountains and you are planning a Vermont ski vacation, be sure to look at lodging packages that include lift tickets. And everyone with kiddos: Examine ski school packages to see if they include lift tickets before you buy tickets for your children.

Vermont resorts temp skiers and riders into buying tickets in advance online at rates that are less than if you were to walk up to the ticket window in your ski boots. Do check out their online pricing before you go.

With the help of social media, special online deals appear from time to time. They usually require an advance, online purchase to get the ticket deal. These links can help you keep tabs on the resorts' announcements:

Avoid disappointment; carefully verify any offer that entices you. Also do not forget your ID if you are planning to take advantage of a resident-based discount!

Bolton Valley Resort ticket discounts

The Ski Bum All-Access Pass is for anyone ages 18-25, or any full-time college student and the price through October 31 is $189. (On Cyber Monday it's $199 instead of $269.) For just 24 hours on November 6 you can purchase online up to two lift tickets for $39 each; tickets will be valid any non-peak Sunday through Friday during the ski season. On Cyber Monday, November 27, buy an early-season lift ticket for $20; tickets are valid from opening day through December 25, 2017. Available through December 10, the Powder Pass buys you a total of five lift tickets for $199 for adults, or $149 for juniors, college students and seniors. You can use the tickets all at once or throughout the season – no date restrictions. Dress in a full Santa suit on Sunday, December 17, and ski and ride the whole day for free. Anyone can hit the trails for $25 on non-peak Mondays this season. You can also night ski for $25 on non-peak Tuesdays - Saturdays. On January 26, March 11 and March 23, owners of a Subaru or Hyundai can get free or discounted tickets. Buy a ticket online in advance for February 2 and you will pay $29 as part of a fundraiser. Active military, National Guard, Reserves, veterans and their dependents get 50 percent off season passes and lift tickets everyday for themselves and their dependents. 

Burke Mountain skiing deals

From November 24 through Cyber Monday, November 27, get discounts on gift cards and packs of 3, 6 or 10 lift tickets. On non-holiday Wednesdays, purchase one lift ticket at $69 and receive two more same day tickets free. For skiers and riders 55 and older, $35 tickets are available on non-holiday Tuesdays and Thursdays. Locals rates are available every day (not including holiday periods) to residents of Vermont and Coos and Grafton counties of New Hampshire: $56 adults; $44 seniors and juniors. Everyone skis on non-holiday Sunday afternoons for $28. Active members of the military and their immediate families can ski free. 

Cochran’s Ski Area = family value

At the family-friendly Cochran's, it costs $25 for an adult lift ticket and $20 for a student. The whole family can ski one day for $80. A six-pack of tickets costs $125. For a slim $5 bill, you can ski on Friday night under the lights. They often have a good combo deal that includes Friday night dinner. 

Jay Peak lift ticket discounts

December 20 -  22 you can pre-purchase one-day lift tickets to use any day between January 8 and February 16, 2018, for $45 adults and $40 juniors; use special offer code SAVENOW18. Residents of Vermont and Clinton County, N.Y., can get a $69 lift ticket (adults); $59 for juniors — a bit of a discount off the window rate. Those same rates apply if you flash a valid season pass from another ski resort. Know someone who just needs access to the beginner lifts on the lower mountain? They can get their ticket for $53 adults and $41 juniors. Once you have your RFID lift-access card from Jay, buy tickets online at a rate that's less than the price you'd pay at the ticket window. Full-time college students should look at a season pass for the best deal.

Mad River Glen skiing discounts

The Mad Card goes for $169 and you get yourself three transferable day tickets good any time during the ski season, plus $5 off additional full-day lift tickets purchased throughout the season. Mad Cards are sold until December 15. On non-holiday weekends, buy a two-day ticket and ski on Monday or Friday for only $1 more. Active US military personnel and their immediate families are eligible for free lift tickets for the first time they ski MRG during the season; discount tickets are available for repeat visits. AARP members get $10 off a full-day ticket every Sunday. Anyone can ski on non-holiday Sunday afternoons for $49. Full-time college students should consider a MRG season pass or the combo pass that's also valid at Sugarbush. Special lift ticket discount days are found through the season at MRG. On January 30, roll back the clock with $3.50 tickets. On Valentine's Day, February 14, kiss your sweetie at the ticket booth and ski for $14. On March 6, Vermont school students (elementary to high school) ski free for Vermont's Town Meeting Day.

Ticket deals at Smugglers’ Notch

From November 24-26, bring a nonperishable food donation and ski for $32. Buy a Bash Badge for $139 adults/$109 young kids ($119/$89 if bought by October 31) and pay $25 per day for an all-day lift ticket, or $15 for a half-day afternoon lift ticket — all season long with no restrictions. A Bash Badge Plus for $209 adults/$159 young kids ($189/$139 by October 31) adds on free early-season and late-season skiing. Vermont residents pay half price for full-day tickets on non-holiday Fridays. New this year: A $5 RFID lift-access card is required when you buy your first ticket at Smuggs. Once purchased this reusable card will have the option to reload online for various products and at ticket booths.

Stowe lift ticket deals

Full-time college students get the best deal at Stowe with the Stowe college pass. Seniors 70+ can buy a discount card. Otherwise, the resort is promoting various Epic season passes for everyone else.

Sugarbush skiing and riding deals

For sale online through the end of November is the $229+tax Quad Pack, a pack of four transferable tickets to Sugarbush with no blackout dates. On Sugarbush's website, research pricing on advance, online tickets for specific days; if you plan early and buy at least two days in advance you may grab a bargain. Skiers aged 30-35 get a discount on a season pass, while folks aged 19-29 get an even better deal. College students should check out the pass deal that includes Mad River; best rate by November 1. Sugarbush offers a first-time learn-to-ski-or-ride package for $295 that gives you three days of lessons, beginner lifts and rentals and once you complete all three you'll get a season pass to use for the remainder of the winter. On non-holiday Thursdays, lift tickets are $30 at Mt. Ellen.

Killington lift ticket discounts

On Cyber Monday, November 27, buy tickets online for $77; these tickets can be used any day of the season with no blackouts. For those who plan to ski or ride four or more days a season, buying a Killington Express Card gets you 50 percent off midweek and 25 percent off weekend and peak day ticket rates. Use the Express Card six times and your seventh visit will be free. The sticker price for the card is $99 adults; $84 seniors; $77 juniors. Current and past members of the military can get a free Express Card. Buying tickets online at least 24 hours in advance can save you some dough; visit their website for pricing. On non-holiday Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Vermont and New Hampshire residents can get a full-day ticket for $58. Bring a friend or family member to the mountain and when they buy a Learn To Ski & Ride package (advance reservations required), you’ll receive a free lift ticket valid the same day. Vermont students K-12 and full-time college students are offered the most discounted season passes at Killington. Early in the fall you can buy discounted K Tickets online to use during the season; that offer has passed so keep your eyes out for it next year.

Middlebury Snow Bowl deals

Middlebury Colege students, alumni, faculty and staff get the best deals on season passes and tickets here. But younger students do, too, making it a family-friendly ski area.

Northeast Slopes bargains

Affordable is the name at the game at Northeast Slopes: $15/day on weekends and $10 on Wednesday afternoons (only $6 if you are 18 or younger). Do your little ones only need the Little Tow? That'll be $5; but only $2 on Wednesday afternoons.

Pico Mountain ticket deals

On Cyber Monday, November 27, buy tickets online for $43; these tickets can be used any day of the season with no blackouts. Vermont students in grades K-12 can get an $89 Vermont Student Pass for unlimited access to Pico all season long, plus perks for themselves and their families. Be warned: The price increases after December 17. My Pico 3 Packs are available through December 14 and $124 gets you three tickets valid through the season. On December 16 and 17, ski for $29 (all ages) with the donation of three non-perishable food items. Get a $49 lift ticket when you donate $10 total to two local charities on January 5 and 26, February 9 and March 9 and 23. Everyone can ski on non-peak Sunday afternoons for $39 throughout the season. Residents of Vermont and New Hampshire ski for $39 on non-peak Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. For those who plan to ski or ride four or more days at Pico this season, buying the Express Card gets you 50 percent off midweek and 25 percent off weekend and peak day ticket rates. Use the Express Card six times and your seventh visit will be free. Card purchase price is $99 adults; $84 seniors; $77 juniors. Members of the military get a complimentary Express Card. Vacationing families need to know that for every adult 5-day Pico Mountain lift ticket purchased prior to arrival, a child (12 and under) receives a free 5-day lift ticket, too. This is not valid on peak dates. Buying tickets online at least 24 hours in advance can save you money; check the Pico website for options. 

Quechee Ski Area discounts

At Quechee, get a lift ticket 10 Pack for $400; split them up and share them or keep them all to yourself. Active military receive 15 percent off regularly priced list tickets. 

Suicide Six best ticket prices

On non-peak weekdays, lift tickets are $35 for adults or $30 for children and seniors — that's half the weekend and holiday rate. Kids 5 and under always ski for $10. Got a beginner who just wants to use the J-bar? That'll cost $15 for the day.

Bromley Mountain ski ticket deals

On Cyber Monday, November 27, go online to get a 3-pack of tickets for $149. The Sun Mountain Card costs $74 ($84 after December 15) and it offers one free non-holiday day of skiing then $30 off midweek tickets or $20 off weekend tickets or $10 off holiday tickets through the season. Members of the military save $15 on tickets through February, then half-off after that. College students save $10 on the posted lift ticket rates. Buy a 6-pack of full-day Kidsrule ski or snowboard lessons for any ability level and after using all six the child gets a season pass good for the remainder of the winter; total price is $779. Check Bromley's website for online, advance ticket pricing. If you plan ahead you can save money off the ticket window rate. 

Living Memorial Park ski hill

At this Brattleboro, Vt., community hill it will cost you a mere $5 to ski or ride — even for Thursday and Friday night skiing.

Magic Mountain discount tickets

The Throwback Card for $129 - $149 (depending when you buy it) will get you $29 lift tickets all season; the price of the card price goes up as winter gets closer. Only available through November, the Freedom 4-Pack is four transferable tickets good anytime (and by anyone) this season. Vermont school kids aged 6-17 can get an unlimited season pass for $139. A Vermont parent or teacher can add on a pass for themselves for $299. Anyone between the ages of 18-29 can get an unrestricted season pass for $299. If you are age 18-24, you can sign up for a free Zero Commitment Card and ski anytime for $39. 

Mount Snow skiing deals

On Cyber Monday, November 27, buy a 4-pack of tickets starting at $229. On December 12 to celebrate Founder's Day, Mount Snow offers $12 tickets; they must be purchased online well in advance. On January 7, kids 17 and under pay their age for a lift ticket. On Valentine's Day, February 14, two people ski for $59 if you buy in advance online. Feel the luck of the Irish with $17 tickets purchased online in advance for March 16, the day before St. Patrick's Day. On non-holiday Sunday afternoons ski for $39, or get a total of four people together and pay $99 total. Skiers and riders aged 18-29 get a good deal on a multi-mountain season pass: $399 if bought by December 15. Buying tickets online at least 24 hours in advance can save you some cash; browse Mount Snow's website for options. 

Okemo Resort ticket deals

The 3 & Easy Packs are available online through October 31 and they get you three transferable tickets for $231 (also will be available to buy online on Cyber Monday, November 27). Full-time college students check out an affordable rate on a season pass with access to Okemo, Mount Sunapee, Killington and Pico; it's priced at $399 through December 15. Bring a new toy, article of clothing or five non-perishable food items to Okemo on December 3 and get a $39 ticket (plus $5 if you don't have an Okemo RFID card). On December 13-14 get a two-day ticket for $99 (plus $5 card if you don't have one) when you mention the 12 Deals of Christmas promotion. Bring any five non-perishable food items to Okemo on March 18 and ski for $39 (plus $5 if you don't have a card). Consider shopping on their website at least 24 hours in advance to find ticket prices better than the window rate. 

Stratton discounted lift tickets

At $229, the Flex Card buys you three tickets valid any day, plus you can visit again for $69 midweek/non-holiday and $89 weekends and holidays — and if you do, the fifth visit is free (non-holiday). Buying tickets online at least 24 hours in advance can save you money; check Stratton's website for options. Skiers/riders aged 18 - 32 save some cash with the $369+tax Strattitude pass; grab it by December 25 before the price goes up.
