Deal alert: January learn-to-ski-and-snowboard deals & free XC skiing

Posted Thursday, January 3, 2013
— Ticket discounts, Alpine / downhill skiing, Cross-country skiing, Strafford Nordic (closed), Blueberry Hill, Ole's, Smugglers' Notch, Rikert, Grafton Ponds

The snow continues to be great thanks to Mother Nature serving up frequent “refresher” snows overnight. Today was a cold one (a good day to get work done), but the temperatures will warm up for tomorrow and the weekend so you can be sure we'll be playing in the snow!

Here are a couple of events that can help you try out a new sport, or get a friend introduced to your favorite snowsport.

Winter Trails Day

On January 12, some Vermont Nordic centers are offering special lessons or deals for folks who want to try out cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Check on each of these resorts to see what they offer: Blueberry Hill, Ole's, Smugglers' Notch, Rikert, Strafford and Grafton Ponds. Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month

Throughout January, it's Learn to Ski and Snowboard month. Special $29 packages include lessons, equipment rentals and a beginner lift ticket at a variety of resorts all over the state. Plan ahead: These packages are not available January 19-21 and the resorts can cap the number of participants. Register for the $29 packages at <link http: www.skivermont.com learn external-link-new-window to>www.skivermont.com/learn.

Participating resorts include: Bolton Valley, Sugarbush, Smugglers' Notch, Burke, Bromley, Mount Snow, Stratton, Okemo, Stowe, Killington and Pico.
