It's snowing in Vermont — and NYT features the Catamount Trail

I just had a lovely, blustery walk for some Vietnamese pho (a delicious noodle soup). It's snowing again in Vermont!

I discovered another great page on the NOAA/National Weather Service site. It gives estimated snowstorm totals:

<link http: www.erh.noaa.gov btv html stormtotalsnow stormtotalsnow.shtml>www.erh.noaa.gov/btv/html/StormTotalSnow/StormTotalSnow.shtml

They also report:

TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 9 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS IS EXPECTED BY TUESDAY MORNING ACROSS CENTRAL AND
NORTHERN VERMONT...INCLUDING THE WESTERN SLOPES OF THE GREEN
MOUNTAINS.

Yay! It appears that there will be some powder skiing to do this week! It will be darn cold and windy, however. So we'll see which day we decide to brave the elements.

I'm eager to get some more turns in the woods. Did you see that Vermont's 300-mile-long Catamount Trail was featured in the New York Times the other day? It's a good story by a Vermont freelance writer. <link http: travel.nytimes.com travel escapes external-link-new-window>You can check it out here.

Enjoying some fluffy new snow in northern Vermont

So grateful for new snow! At higher elevations in northern Vermont, we've seen quite a bit of fluffy new snow in the last couple of days. Above 1600 feet or so there's often a decent, frozen base, as…
