Enjoying some classic Nordic skiing at Catamount on December 21, 2022.

We had some wild weather on the Friday before Christmas (December 23). Luckily, most Vermont ski areas got a few inches or more of snow at the back end of the storm. Many ski areas are saying they weathered the rainy, windy storm better than expected. I guess we could chalk that up to some holiday magic!

Nordic ski areas got hit the hardest, it seems. Visit our Vermont Ski Resorts page to see the status and conditions at your favorite ski areas.

Cold temperatures have settled in again for the first part of the week in Vermont. Expect to see some snowmaking in action. The ski areas will want to lay down more snow before the next warm-up comes on New Year's weekend.

I was glad to get out and cross-country ski at Catamount a couple of times last week before Friday's storm. It was some good early-season Nordic skiing at that time.

Could we have some more snow, Santa? Please!?!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Enjoying some fluffy new snow in northern Vermont

So grateful for new snow! At higher elevations in northern Vermont, we've seen quite a bit of fluffy new snow in the last couple of days. Above 1600 feet or so there's often a decent, frozen base, as…

Late-afternoon Nordic ski in soft snow

With Saturday looking like it will hit 45 degrees at 2,000 feet with possible rain showers in northern Vermont, it was time to hit the cross-country trails today! We took a late-afternoon ski at…
