An exciting mass start Nordic race under sunny skies.

The four leaders really stayed in the lead the whole race.

UVM skiers Linda Davind-Malm (16) and Anja Gruber (5).

UVM skier Janey McClelland.

The leaders approach a hill to cheers of the crowd.

UVM skiers working hard (5 and 16).

UVM's Anja Gruber (5) won NCAA Championship classic race on Thursday.

Race winner Joanne Reid of Colorado raises the CU flag.

Great sprint to finish for 2nd and 3rd place.

Eliska Hajkova of Colorado edged out Marine Dusser of U Alaska Anch.

Dartmouth's Mary O'Connell took 4th place.

Congratulations and hugs at the finish.

Midd students catchin' rays between the women's and men's races.

Congratulations to the ski racers at the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships! The races were contested on the slopes of Middlebury Snow Bowl and trails of Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton, Vt.

While things were looking very good for UVM to take another title this year, they finished on the podium in third place. U Colorado and U Utah beat them out on the last day. Sigh.

The SkiMeister and I watched the last day of racing on Saturday. We saw the men's Nordic 20K freestyle and the women's 15K freestyle. We're posting images of each of these events on separate posts because there are quite a few images. Yeah, we're shutterbugs.

Fresh snow in the woods

Thank goodness the snow is back!

Enjoying some fluffy new snow in northern Vermont

So grateful for new snow! At higher elevations in northern Vermont, we've seen quite a bit of fluffy new snow in the last couple of days. Above 1600 feet or so there's often a decent, frozen base, as…
