Telemark turns on the snowy CCC road.

Telemark turns on the snowy CCC road.

Glorious snow all around us as we climbed.

Glorious snow all around us as we climbed.

Guess what we found today? More fluffy snow! Am I sounding like a broken record? Somehow I think you'll forgive me.

The SkiMeister and I skied up the snow-covered CCC road and Eagle Cut Trail from Underhill State Park to get some quiet, morning turns in the powder on the way down. This Vermont State Park is on the west side of Mt. Mansfield. In the summer a lot of people hike Mt. Mansfield from the park. In the winter it's a popular skiing trailhead for the very busy Teardrop backcountry trail.

I read today that the stake at the top of Mt. Mansfield shows about 47 inches of snow. While we were much lower on the flanks of the mountain, we still marveled at the snow piled up on the branches everywhere and the soft powder underfoot.

Hope you can get out in the snow this weekend!

Enjoying some fluffy new snow in northern Vermont

So grateful for new snow! At higher elevations in northern Vermont, we've seen quite a bit of fluffy new snow in the last couple of days. Above 1600 feet or so there's often a decent, frozen base, as…
